An examination of the creative process and the idea of role models in the multidisciplinary context of four contemporary artists and designers.
Opening Reception: Saturday, November 23rd 7pm-10pm
On View: November 23rd to January 11th
Please join us for the opening of “Gods Who Eat Mountains," a multidisciplinary array of contemporary work ranging from illustration, typography, collage, and graphic design. “GWEM" will trace the process in the work of four distinctive artists and designers: Mark Caneso, a typographer, Vincent Griffin, a collagist, Tony Larson, a lifestyle brand designer, and Mallory Rose, an illustrator, in an exhibition curated by WeAreNotYou studio founder Jarred Eberhardt. Each artist will bring forth their own unique perspective on their process by presenting work that pays homage to their role models in art and life, showing that a role model is much more than a person, and in turn revealing how their work comes to life.
The curator of the show, Jarred Eberhardt, started his design career in 2005 with the moniker "WeAreNotYou" and has worked as a conceptual thinker and creative for big agencies, small independent clients, iconic fashion brands, and small family owned businesses ever since. Eberhardt choose the term ‘role model’ as the conceptual motivation for the artists. He states, ‘A role model can be much more than a “person”. It can be as simple as a word or texture to an ideal or concept. It is anything that inspires and drives people to be guided outside of their comfort zone and strive to reach a higher level of experience.”
